A downtown boutique and interior design studio is set to reveal its expanded showroom this week.
Simply Perfect, a home design, decor, lifestyle and apparel store at the 8th and Railroad shopping center, filled the former Reg and Relic space next door. The grand opening of the new space will be May 14 — the business’ 15th anniversary, said Penny Klinedinst, owner of Simply Perfect.
“It was the right move to make even if it was during a pandemic,” Klinedinst said. “The opportunity was going to come and go if I didn’t seize it.”

The new space will be more quiet and private for interior clients to focus on their design projects. Furniture pieces for sale will be staged throughout the space, and there will also be activities for customers who are browsing to dip their toes into what their design style might be or what possibilities there are for redesigning their space.
“This benefits the customer because this goes a little deeper for them and keeps things cleaner and easier for them to visualize,” Klinedinst said.
In addition to giving more space for the retail side of the business to spread out in its original space, the expansion also allows more room for design work in a “workplace that’s not cramped and busy and crowded,” Klinedinst said.
Now, the former workspace has been converted into offices, and Klinedinst has nearly 3,000 square feet to dedicate to interior design work for clients. Major projects Simply Perfect is working on will be displayed throughout the space, such as the Silencer Central renovation. She’s also able to showcase the vendors she works with for projects.

It’s also the first time in Klinedinst’s history with the business that she has her own dedicated office space.
“We’re not doing anything different than what we’ve always done, but now we’re able to show a little more of our design business, which people didn’t understand because they didn’t see it,” Klinedinst said. “This gives a platform for people to see. They love the shop, but they didn’t know there was so much of the design part with flooring and lighting and things I’ve been doing for 20 years before.”
While Klinedinst started her interior design work in 1999, she opened Simply Perfect in 2006 as a retail side of her business. The store grew from 800 square feet to more than 8,000 square feet, to fit not only the growing retail side of Simply Perfect, but the apparel side of her business, Threads. She also bought Plum’s Cooking Company a few doors down in 2016.
“Everything we do is with the client in mind,” Klinedinst said.
