Maricopa County Home Show is a one-stop shop | Features

The Maricopa Home & Landscape Show returns to Glendale this July to help homeowners spruce up their homes.

Held at State Farm Stadium, the event is a one-stop shop for folks new to owning or renting a home, a longtime homeowner, or families looking for fun.

“Our main event is our 850 home improvement vendors,” said Heather Fillipo, Maricopa County Home Shows’ special events coordinator.

“It will take up the whole stadium floor. Each event will have special features that are totally free to our attendees. Anything we have, attendees will be able to purchase. If you’re looking for something special meant to fit a home, chances are we have it.”

Maricopa Home & Landscape Show has been producing nearly five shows annually for 30 years. Fillipo said this has given the company plenty of time to find out what works and what doesn’t.

“Along with the marketplace, we’ll have eight make-and-take craft classes that people will be able to participate in free with admission,” she said.

“We’ve got things for the kids as well, like our handmade headquarters. The kids can make candles, seaglass necklaces, and little soaps shaped like cactuses for the guest bathrooms. It really impresses guests to find out the soaps and decorations in the bathroom are handmade.”

The show has local and international talent. The more than 100 artisans will cast their own take on home improvement.

“It’s a great place to pick up gifts and get inspiration,” she said.

“Anything you could possibly need for your home will be on the stadium floor, from candles to sewing tools and even homemade butter.

“I definitely enjoy all the features the show has. They’re such a great value to add to the event. The main stage seminars and the garden seminars are great for the attendees. I’m not someone with a green thumb, so the garden seminars are super helpful to me. We’ve got stuff on composting, starting your own vegetable garden, and information on irrigation to help people start out from the basics.”

At the entrance to the show, the Maricopa County superintendent’s office will accept school supply donations.

Those who donate a new backpack will receive two free admission tickets to the show, with the backpack going to a local child in need.

“We get a wide variety of people coming in, many people either purchasing their first home, people who are looking for homes, and anyone who’s been here for many years. There’s plenty to do for everyone, from the adults to the kids,” she said.
